The three pillars of TTRPGs (combat, exploration and social interaction) are all equally present in Wayfarers, and each can be played up or down to fit any scenario.

Combat

See Combat and the combat sections of Design Philosophy.

Exploration and navigation

Exploration has traditionally been a dull part of the game: a series of nights taking watch shifts to see if wild creatures attack, or rolls to survive the wilderness and reach your destination. Classes like the Ranger and Druid are meant to thrive in the wilderness, so Wayfarers aims to make exploration fun and dynamic with events, Skill Challenges and more.

Every class has at least one way to interact with the environment and explore.

Social interaction and roleplay

Every character should have some kind of secret or background information that they check in with at each tier. This gives players a reason to play through the story and to explore their character and their relationships. See Tiers and Origin.
