Skill challenges have a difficulty rank, and the GM tells the party the rank before they roll so they know how hard it will be. If a task is Demanding, the party knows the DC is between 20 and 24. Enemy DCs can be described the same way.
| DC | Rank |
|---|---|
| 5 | Routine |
| 10 | Simple |
| 15 | Average |
| 20 | Demanding |
| 25 | Tough |
| 30 | Challenging |
| 35 | Daunting |
| 40 | Formidable |
| 45 | Epic |
| 50 | Nigh Impossible |
Skill challenges are also central to making exploration fun (see Design Pillars).
Stunts
“Stunts: rolling the same dice number on a skill check.” Matching dice on a skill check could trigger a bonus effect. Needs the core die decided (see Core Mechanics).
Clocks
The Additional Info notes list Clocks under challenges: progress clocks that fill as the party succeeds or fails. Not written yet.
