Short rest

Characters can short rest twice per day. A short rest takes one hour. You can spend any Hit Die to replenish (unfinished).

Long rest

To take a long rest, a character must consume a ration and sleep for 8 hours. Sleep can be broken up for patrolling, taking turns on watch, and other light, routine tasks.

If a long rest is interrupted by combat, an hour of walking, casting spells, or other strenuous activity, the character must make a DC [?] Constitution check. On a failure, the character still consumes the ration but must restart the long rest to gain its benefits. If they rested for at least an hour, they can take the benefits of a short rest.

If the characters are in an inn or another safe place designated by the GM, they become Well Rested.

Scenes

Some abilities refresh per scene instead of per rest.

Legacy terms in resting

  • “Hit Die” vs the classes’ Class Dice.
  • “Constitution check”: Constitution isn’t a Wayfarers attribute (Might or Resolve?).
  • The DC is blank, and “Well Rested” has no defined benefit.
